Proper hydration is essential in total body health, and it also has a direct impact on the way your skin looks as well. In fact, your skin can be one of the most telling signs in terms of whether you are drinking enough water each and every day. You skin can give you a good indication as to whether or not you have been consuming enough water to ensure that your entire body is well hydrated.
One of the easiest ways to test the amount of hydration in your skin is through a simple test which involves pinching the skin on the back of your hand. The faster the skin springs back in to place, the more hydrated you are. Skin that lags and takes longer to go back in to position can be a sign that you need to increase your water consumption. Additional ways you can determine if you are drinking enough water is by the look and feel of your skin. When you drink adequate amounts of water, your skin looks smooth, well moisturized and does not have dry patches or spots.
You need to drink at least eight full glasses of water each and every day; though based on what your skin is telling you, the need for more water may be necessary. Even if you think you drink enough water, yet your skin is telling you otherwise, you need to keep in mind that climate, underlying medical issues and other external factors can influences the amount of water you need and thus you simply may need to drink more than normal during certain times.
